Junior Fiction

A few words about their singles leading up to this album...

Simply put, Love Songs is one of the most thoroughly and immediately satisfying pop EPs I've ever heard... -George Zahora, Splendid E-zine

Sekiden Wowie! These Australian kids really know how to pack a powerful pop punch, and if you're not left totally smilin' and happy after the 9:56 minutes of onslaught new wave pop, then, well, check yr pulse! –Joseph Kyle, Mundane Sounds

If there were such a thing as perfect pop, SEKIDEN, on a stomach full of red cordial, would be fairly close to the mark. With a penchant for electronic synthesisers and keyboards of the late 70s and early 80s, SEKIDEN have developed their own brand of analogue pop that's smart and infectious.

"Combine a love of old school synths, crunching guitars & the most energetic & enthusiastic drummer in the country & you've got SEKIDEN."

Since their inception in late '98, SEKIDEN have gone from strength to strength, inking a deal with Modular recordings in 2000. They released two critically acclaimed Eps, Better Music Through Mathematics and Love Songs For Robots. Once released they instantly sprang into the hearts and minds of the listening public, receiving numerous weeks of high rotation on Australia's biggest national radio station JJJ. That success was soon followed by appearances on the ABC TV music show RAGE and FOXTEL Channel V. In conjunction with the releases, SEKIDEN played eleven consecutive national tours in two years, rocking the stages of festivals like Big Day Out, Weekender and a main stage appearance the Brisbane LIVID Festival.

Before long well known Brisbane producer Magoo, recognising good clean fun when he sees it, approached SEKIDEN and the pair hit it off straight away forming a perfect pop partnership. The team went into hiding in Magoo's secret studio to record, and it was then that they captured the attention of industry renowned band and label manager Heath Bradby from Redline Records, who signed their second record deal.

SEKIDEN is preparing to embark on the next phase of their world domination plans, with the release of the much-anticipated long player Junior Fiction in the USA on Microindie Records.

With Junior Fiction nearly ready to hit the international stage in March 2004, SEKIDEN will storm Canada and the US with a three-month tour this spring.

Nearly a year since touring Canada and the US with The Salteens last June, pop fans across the country are ready for their return. So keep one ear on the ground and the other on the receiver, this year SEKIDEN will be taking over a world near you!! Stay tuned for tour dates!
